Argggggg! What ye be lookin at? Any
scallywag who can't keep his sails in good shape can walk the plank! The
sails I am working on here turned out to be a little small. They are
nice so I think I'll build a smaller ship to use them on. Now With
two days to go until I leave for Chicago I'm kinda worried about getting
done. Oh well perhaps I can fit the time in for new sails about 4:00
am tomorrow mourning.
Here is the figure head I'm sculpting from green
stuff. It's a little ruff but it's suppose to look like it's carved
from wood so I am not going as smooth with it as I would a mini sculpt. Aww
who am I kidding. I'm a hack sculptor.
The other side of the figure head.
A shot of the in progress figure head
A shot of some of the sculpted detail on
the back. There is going to ge a banner between the heraldic dolphins
for the ships name and some decorative foilage frameing the top and sides.
This shot shows how I ruffed out the dolphins before
doing to details. Flatwork in much easier than sculpting in the round
but it has its own challenges. Trying to do two semi identical figures
facing each other is extreamly difficult. As you can see I didn't not
get the perfect but then again I'm not a master sulptor and even masters
rarely get it compleatly semetrical. People arn't machines after all.
some of the decorative work on the sides of the
cabin. More green stuff. These shapes are extreamly simple but
look nice.
